2019 Acura RDX Interior: First Look

2019 Acura RDX Interior

The exterior of the 2019 Acura RDX has been getting the bulk of the attention as it’s made its way across the auto show circuit. But some of the most exciting changes made for the 2019 model year have been to the RDX interior.

With a brand new interior design, dubbed the “Acura Precision Cockpit,” it shows the new scheme that Acura will soon roll out to all its core models. There’s a lot to go over with this interior makeover, including an all-new infotainment system.

Let’s dive into the details and show what makes the new 2019 Acura RDX interior so special!

Panoramic Moonroof Comes Standard

A moonroof or sunroof is a feature that is usually offered only on higher-level vehicle trims or as an expensive single add-on option on luxury vehicles. In the case of the 2019 Acura RDX, however, its moonroof comes standard on all models.

But this is no run-of-the-mill moonroof. This is a dual-pane panoramic moonroof that spans almost the entire length of the vehicle’s roof. It has been previously unheard of for any luxury vehicle to offer the moonroof as a standard feature, especially one as high-end as a panoramic option.

So whether you’re in the front or back of a 2019 Acura RDX interior, you’ll be able to enjoy the air and natural light on a beautiful day thanks to this amazing standard feature.

Incredible New 3D Sound System

The 2019 Acura RDX has the fresh new look inside and out, plenty of new technology, and amazing new standard features. But one of the most crucial parts of a luxury vehicle is the sound system. For commuters especially, this is one of the most used features of the vehicle. And in typically Acura fashion, the brand wants the absolute best for its customers.

With that in mind, the 2019 RDX features an available 16-speaker 3D audio system by ELS Studio. This system was created exclusively for Acura, and is one of the most unique sound systems you’ll find in any vehicle on the market today.

What makes this 3D system so special is the four speakers embedded in the ceiling above the sides of the front and rear seats. This provides a full range of sound from top to bottom and front to back. Unlike most systems that only provide front to back audio, this ELS system is meant to provide full immersion in the sound. (Hence “3D” in its name!)

True Touchpad Infotainment Interface

Most vehicles have an infotainment system that relies on a touchscreen-only interface or a mixture of touchscreen and “knob” or “mouse” control. Acura’s new True Touchpad infotainment system interface may at first look like a mouse control setup, but it’s actually a completely unique system that uses a new type of touchpad that introduces “absolute positioning.”

Absolute Positioning in the True Touchpad interface works by allowing the user to place their finger at the top-left of the touchpad and see interaction in that section of the 2019 RDX’s 10.2-inch display. When the user moves their finger to the right on the touchpad, they’ll see feedback on the display. This ultimately makes using the interface while driving much easier and more efficient than other types of infotainment interfaces.

With the natural positioning of the touchpad, drivers will be able to seamlessly interact with the infotainment system without having to adjust their driving position, or look down and compromise their safety.
