What is AcuraWatch?

QuestionWhat is AcuraWatch?

Answer

AcuraWatch is a suite of safety features bundled together to enhance Acura vehicles and help keep drivers safe using the latest and greatest technology.

Included with AcuraWatch:

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow (LSF)

Like regular cruise control, this feature will maintain a set speed; however, it can also detect the vehicle in front and allows you to set a following interval of short, medium, or long. Once this is set, the system will adjust the throttle and brakes as necessary to maintain the set interval between your car and the car in front of you.

Blind Spot Information (BSI) System

Like the name suggests, the BSI system assists drivers by detecting vehicles within blind spots during lane changes. Indicator lights located on each side your Acura vehicle’s windshield pillar will light up when a turn signal is active and a vehicle is detected in the blind spot zone.

The system is only active when your vehicle is traveling over 20 MPH, and will only activate when there’s an actual moving vehicle in the blind spot. This is to prevent the system from going off when you’re parking, are at a stop light, or simply driving past parked cars.

Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)

The Lane Keeping Assist System is used to keep your Acura vehicle in its lane of traffic by using a camera that identifies lane division markers. When the system detects your vehicle is out of its lane without a signal on, it will move the steering wheel in the opposite direction to re-center the vehicle in the lane.

It should be noted that this is not an autonomous vehicle feature. If you manually continue to exit your lane, even without a signal, the system does not have the power to take over and force you back into your original lane. This means you still must be aware when using the system, as it’s only meant to assist you in driving safely.
