Sunnyside Acura Sends Local Runners Meghan and Amanda to 2016 Boston Marathon

Nashua, NH – On April 18, the 120th Boston Marathon will kick off with more than 30,000 participants running the 26.2-mile route through Hopkinton, Ashland, Framingham, Wellesley, Natick, Brookline, Newton, and Boston. The New England Acura Dealers Association (NEADA) will be leading the race as official automobile sponsor of the 2016 Boston Marathon, with the 2017 NSX as the grand marshal vehicle as well other Acura models setting the pace for various heats. Each of the seven NEADA dealerships is contributing their support, time, effort, and hearts as first-time sponsors of the marathon.

“This is a big deal! The Boston Marathon is a New England tradition and an institution to the runner community. To be able to show our great Acura product line on the world stage is incredible,” said Nadi Malek, partner and co-owner of Sunnyside Acura.

In addition to showcasing the Acura fleet throughout Marathon Weekend, Sunnyside Acura also provided invitational entries to two runners from the local area. Amanda Muldoon (35) of Pelham, NH is honored to run this prestigious race on behalf of Sunnyside Acura. Amanda has run five marathons in her life, but never the Boston Marathon, right in her own backyard.

“It will be such an honor to run this year’s Boston Marathon and I hope to enjoy the entire experience. I’m looking forward to everything from the course to the crowds of supporters that come out to cheer on all the runners. I’ve been one of the supporters many years in the past, so this is my year to run and FINISH the 2016 Boston Marathon,” said Amanda.

Sunnyside’s other runner entry went to Nashua local, Meghan McGrath (26). Meghan heard about Sunnyside Acura and NEADA’s commitment to raise $1 million dollars for Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) before November 2016 and was encouraged to join the Miles for Miracles Team benefitting Boston Children’s Hospital.

“Running the Boston Marathon has always been a dream of mine ever since I got involved with running in high school. I continued this passion in college where I ran track and field at the University of New Hampshire and was a captain my senior year. Throughout both experiences, I ran as a sprinter, which is the total opposite of being a marathon runner! After graduating college, I got more involved with distance running and setting personal records. My excitement for distance running quickly grew as I noticed faster times with each race I completed,” reveals Meghan.

Meghan cannot wait to prove Boston’s strength as a community by participating in this year’s marathon. As a member of the Miles for Miracles team, Meghan will receive dedicated coaching, participate in team training runs every Saturday, and have the opportunity to raise funds for the Children’s Fund at BCH. This is an unrestricted fund that enables Boston Children’s to continue to provide high quality care, lead innovative efforts to research and the discovery of cures, educate the next generation of leaders in pediatrics, and care for the children and families in our local community.
